Balash I (Vologeses) |
Balash the 1st, the elected King of Iran, from the Parthian dynasty, died on 30 July 77 AD. He, whom the western historians call Vologeses, is said to be from the Medes tribe (the people from the north-west areas of Iran – Ray province and areas on its west) and one of the wise kings of ancient Iran, who ruled for 25 years.
In July 76 AD, one year before dying, he ordered Avesta to be compiled in the form of a book, which Ardeshir Papakan completed it later.
After the death of Balash the 1st, the Iran Senate (Mehestan) could not come to an agreement about the succeeding king, for a long time, and due to this instability, the country was on the verge of a political chaos.
